All 16 Celebrity Cruises Ships, From Newest to Oldest

If it's a sea day in a warm-weather destination, and you're bound for the top deck, that means looking like you're going to the beach — T-shirts, shorts and bathing suits (with a cover-up to go inside) are just fine. The currency used on all Celebrity ships is U.S. dollars, no matter where they are in the world. All vessels operate on a "cashless system," with any onboard purchases you make posting automatically to your onboard account. All vessels have standard North American-style, 110-volt outlets in rooms, as well as European-style, 220-volt outlets.

Are there any other cruise lines that use a similar symbol or letter in their branding?

The Bermuda government had indicated that Chandris Fantasy Cruises could not be awarded the contracts as they were not premium enough. The X formed a part of the original logo for the cruise line and it has been retained even when Celebrity Cruises was bought by the Royal Caribbean Group in 1997. It was originally included to tie the cruise line back to the main group. Locate your stateroom, and our world-class amenities and venues throughout the ship.

The X has been restored to its traditional position on the funnel, highlighting the importance of brand recognition for Celebrity Cruises. The giant glass-encased X shape on Celebrity Edge’s funnel design is a perfect representation of the cruise line’s contemporary and sophisticated style. The Celebrity Summit does have pools and kids’ clubs, but there’s nothing exciting for kids like water slides or rock-climbing walls. All of the activities we opted to do were included in the cost of our sailing. However, there were also some additional activities, like fitness classes, that came with an additional expense.

Celebrity Cruises' loyalty program

Celebrity draws a broad range of travelers, most attracted by the cuisine, unusual entertainment and creative itineraries. Passenger ages typically average in the 50s, with family groups more visible in the summer and during school vacations. The longer and more exotic cruises usually host an older demographic, and the passenger mix varies with the port of embarkation but most are from North America, the U.K., Australia and New Zealand.

That's nearly 40% smaller than the biggest ships operated by Royal Caribbean. On a ship with such an outdoors-based itinerary, casual is obviously the order of the day, but guests seemed to enjoy changing out of their daytime swimmers and shorts and dressing fairly smartly for dinner. And indeed, the joy of the Galapagos operation is that it combines Celebrity stylishness with local, "small ship" ambience. Crewmembers -- almost entirely Ecuadorian from the captain down -- are sunny, charming and tirelessly obliging. Celebrity Xcel will be Celebrity Cruises’ fifth Edge-class vessel, launching in November 2025.

During the winter, the line will move most of its ships to the Caribbean, but also send a few to Asia, Australia and South America. Celebrity's Solstice Class and Millennium Class ships are even smaller at around 122,000 tons and 91,000 tons, respectively. Celebrity Xcel will enter service in 2025 ,and the maiden voyage will be a seven-night Caribbean itinerary departing from Fort Lauderdale in that November. The history behind the X is a reminder of the cruise line’s roots and how it has evolved since its creation.

As Celebrity Cruises continues to innovate and push the boundaries of what’s possible in the cruising industry, the X remains a symbol of the company’s commitment to providing a premium experience to passengers. Ever noticed how Celebrity Cruises has a prominent X on the funnel of their ships or as a part of the logo? In fact, in some places it’s even more prominent – the entire funnel design on Celebrity Edge, for example, is a giant glass-encased X shape.

As is typical with cruise line loyalty programs, lower tiers don't bring all that much in terms of truly valuable benefits. You'll get things like access to a loyalty desk (at the Preview tier) or an invite to a private party (at the Classic tier). Staying in balcony cabins, which the line calls Veranda cabins, will get you 3 points a day.

Dickenson Beach in Antigua is a picturesque paradise, while Crane Beach on Barbados boasts pale pink sand. Over the course of one day in Key West, you can experience the joie de vie of the southernmost city in the continental United States. Vacationers from all over the world flock to the best beaches in the Caribbean for their famed white sand, dazzling multi-hued sea, and laid-back vibe. In Perfect Day at CocoCay, you can whizz down North America’s tallest water slide or chill out in a private Overwater Cabana.

Passengers in AquaClass have their own restaurant, Blu, and suite passengers can dine in Luminae, which is a notch up from the main dining room in both food and service. The first ship in Celebrity’s Solstice class currently cruises Alaska and the Pacific Coast in style. Here, you’ll find the lush Lawn Club, the adults-only Persian Garden thermal suite, and the glam Grand Foyer. Additional highlights include the Solstice Deck, an onboard nightclub, and a slew of bars and lounges, including the wine-centric Cellar Masters, where oenophiles can learn about – and taste — a wide variety of vinos from across the globe.

If you enjoy the Suite Class on the big ships and have the budget, you'll want to go with Flora, which has the closest experience you can get to a traditional Celebrity sailing. If you like the Celebrity ethos and service but don't mind an older ship, Celebrity Xpedition or Celebrity Xploration are your best bets. Celebrity Cruises is the only mainstream cruise line to operate expedition ships in the Galapagos Islands. Last refurbished in 2018, Celebrity Xpedition was purposely built to cruise the Galapagos. The immersive onboard experience includes nightly lectures by certified naturalists from Galapagos National Park, who will be on board the entire sailing. Enjoy postcard-worthy views from the Panorama Deck, or take a dip in the hot tub on the Sunrise Deck.

Watch riveting shows at the cutting-edge theater, which feature popular music, stunning dance sequences, and gravity-defying acrobatics. Sign up for a wine tasting with one of our expert sommeliers, or take a hot glass class and learn how to make your own piece of art. Arrange a romantic picnic at the rooftop Lawn Club, where you can lounge on a half-acre of real grass while gazing at the ocean.

Le Petit Chef is well worth the added fee thanks to a combination of gourmet eats and exhilarating entertainment complete with tabletop animations. In addition, passengers staying in spa-focused AquaClass cabins on Celebrity ships have access to an exclusive restaurant with a spa-inspired menu called Blu (there's no per-visit charge; the cost is folded into your AquaClass fare). There's also an exclusive restaurant on Edge Class ships for passengers staying in The Retreat suites called Luminae.

The Edge Class ships are, by far, the line's most suite-heavy ships, with a whopping 190 suites of different types on each vessel. The Edge Class ships also offer hundreds of special spa-themed AquaClass cabins and Concierge Class cabins that come with special amenities. However, you'll find plenty of suites and special AquaClass and Concierge Class cabins on Celebrity's other ships, too. The Iconic Suites aren't the only over-the-top suites on the Edge Class ships. Each of the vessels also has two multi-room Penthouse Suites that measure more than 1,575 square feet, as well as the line's first two-deck-high suites.
